gracie's mixtape

Hey y'all, you might not know me very well but, my name is Gracie Crocker. I've lived on the same street and farm my whole life, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Some things I love include Jesus, my family & friends, my puppy, the fall weather, the smell of rain, playing volleyball & my teammates, sleepovers on the weekends, watching Netflix, and singing. Now, this is a music class so I'll elaborate on the singing part. I love to sing, it makes me feel so happy, especially in the summer when I can let my windows down and sing to the top of my lungs. Honestly I don't think I'm a great singer but, I can carry a tune. My memaw makes me sing in church a lot, I don't mind it really, I just get really nervous singing in front of crowds. Anyways, please enjoy a little bit about myself and my musical taste, welcome to my mixtape!

If you've ever heard me talk, then it should be no surprise what kind of music means the most to me... I'm from a small town where all we do is take the long way home, with the windows down, and blast country music through our old broken speakers. I've listened to country music since I was born, when I was a little girl, I'd tell my mama to turn up the volume and I'd start preforming Carrie Underwood in that booster seat all the way home. There's all types of country music, and I do truly love it all, but my absolute favorite is country love songs. There's no way I could possibly explain the feeling of singing a country love song, taking in every word that the artist sings, while holding the guy you loves hand... it's just something you have to experience and feel on your own. The video I have uploaded is a small piece of one of the best nights of my life, feel free to watch and enjoy :) if you like the song it's "You Make It Easy" by Jason Aldean.

So, I actually had to upload this video into two parts because it wouldn't let me post the whole thing, but this song means so much to me. The 3 girls in these videos with me are my absolute best friends. At the beginning of quarantine, our parents were all really particular about us hanging out. We went almost two weeks without seeing each other, I cried like everyday. I missed my best friends so much. After those two weeks, we spent about a month sitting outside my drive way, in the cold, and sitting beach chairs huddled with blankets, 6 feet apart just so we could see each other. No it wasn't ideal, but we still talked and laughed, like we hadn't missed a beat. Finally, we were able to see each other and we never split up after that. As usual, we were driving around in the car listening to music when we heard this song. We all immediately loved it and started singing along. This then became the "bff anthem". When you listen to the words it says,

"and it gets you down

but that's OK

you've been pushed 'round

you feel the pain

and when you fall

just lean on me"

I know I can always lean on them and they'll have my back no matter what I'm going through, even when times are hard, like quarantine, they're always there :) if you like the song it's "Never Seen The Rain" by Tones and I.

Music I do not find enjoyable. If I'm being honest, I'm a pretty lit person, whatever the person with the aux turns on, I'm gonna jam out. I'm gonna dance, try to sing, and probably shake what my mama gave me. But if I'm being totally honestly, I don't like rap music. I honestly couldn't even find a video that I knew to upload because I just don't listen to it at all, so I uploaded what is SUPPOSED to be the clean version of Cardi B's "Thru Your Phone". This is one of the few rap songs that I actually know, and yes I do know all of the words but, what heart broken girl don't?

Thank y'all so much for reading my blog and sharing in some of my experiences!!! I tried to make it as interesting as possible but, you know how that goes... but, until next time

                                                                                                                                               PEACE :)

  1. I just wanted to say your choice of music is just the same as me. I was raised on country music and it just completes me. I love riding around and just jamming to country music every so often. Also. I wanted to add about your best friends. Y'all look like you all just complete each other! I have a best friend just like that. That song is perfect. I had to click off of it and listen to the whole song. Thank you for sharing your musical choice with me!

  2. Your blog is so cute! And I also listen to county music from time to time, but Carrie Underwood has got to be my favorite out the butch, especially her song "Before he cheats" loving singing that one at the top of lungs.

  3. I can totally relate! I also grew up jamming out to country music along with other genres, but country was my dads favorite so it is what is often played. I love LOVE LOVE the song "You Make It Easy", every time this comes on I have to sing! It's impossible not to! When I clicked your blog, I knew exactly what kind of music was going to be featured!

  4. I loved how the Nokia at the beginning of your blog, set the tone as nostalgic before I even started reading. My family and best friend are all huge country fans. The part about your Carrie Underwood performances actually reminded me of how she'd cover a song every year for our talent show. I missed my best friend during quarantine too. Sadly, I still wasn't able to see her before she went to Columbia.
