Everyone knows, I love country music, that's honestly all I ever play. I love all kinds of it, old, new, I even love the country music people say isn't even country music. When you're riding down the road, on a fall day, with your windows down, and country music coming out of your speakers with the radio up, it's just a whole different type of vibe. That's my type of vibe lol. So what about you? Do you like country music? If so, who's your favorite? Who do you consider to be some of the greats? What came to mind when I said that? Alan Jackson, Garth Brookes, Jonny Cash? They are some of the greats, I love them myself, but they're also all male. Why is that? Country music is clearly more male dominated, but why? I personally feel like it's because a lot of producers won't give female country artist a chance to prove themselves. I also think it's because a lot of people prefer to hear a man's voice singing country music over a females. And th...

it's about to get real South American up in here

What's up my party people!!! It's blog #4, so y'all know the drill by now. Sit back and get ready for some South Africa knowledge :)         FACT #1: Okay, I don't know about anyone else, but my sisters make me watch the movie "Rio" all the time, and honestly, I do not complain. I've always loved the movie because of all the animals, bright colors, but most importantly the MUSIC! So basically in the movie there are these two birds and they get lost and they end up going to the Brazil traditional parade and celebration, Rio Carnival. Super great movie, 100% recommend it, but I just wanted to cover a little bit on what Carnival is and what's it's meaning. This festival is held the Friday before Ash Wednesday afternoon, the signifies the start of Lent. This festival include huge parades that are full of flashy costumes, floats, dancing, and of course very loud and upbeat music. This is basically...

I don't try and make it any secret that I'm a Christian, I love Jesus, and he loves me. I definitely fall short time and time again, but he never fails to forgive me, and I always know I can turn to God for any of life's turns. I'm not trying to get to in depth about the religion itself but, if anyone reading this is ever struggling with something, feeling overwhelmed, or even just someone to talk to, please pray. I know if you're not used to it, it may seem silly at first, kind of like you're talking to yourself, but when you really get into it, it literally feels as if there is a weight being lifting off your shoulders, it's like a breath of fresh air... so anyways, into my actual blog :)       Music in my religion is so important to me. I'm from a southern baptist church, so the hymns are usually what I hear in service, and they're pretty good, you know, the classics, but those just don't fuel my spirit all the way. When...

random Native American stuff

Who was Pocahontas? Was she even Native American? How old was she? Why do I care? All great questions you may be thinking. I am here to answer them all. So, for starters, Pocahontas wasn't even her real name. Her actual name was Amuonte. Her nickname was Pocahontas, which some believe means "playful child". She was the daughter of the powerful tribal leader. The story goes that she is believed to have saved John Smiths life. Pocahontas's father wanted to kill John Smith for being an English man, but obviously she saved him. This is all according to the diary that John kept. He talked so highly of her beauty and bravery. And then they fell in love before he went back to England and she died. The real story goes, John Smith was captured by the Native Americans, but they ended up releasing him. While he was being held in captivity, Smith and Pocahontas talked a lot. They learned from each other. This learning included different languages, traditions, and other things s...
